Big or Small: what is the difference?
A standard 4D draw produces 23 winning numbers: first, second and third prizes, 10 special prizes and 10 consolation prizes. A Big bet wins on any of those 23 numbers, at lower payouts. A Small bet only wins on the top three prizes, but pays more for them.

The real odds of winning 4D
There are 10,000 four-digit numbers, from 0000 to 9999. For a single straight number, the chance of it being the first prize is 1 in 10,000. Because a Big bet wins on 23 numbers, its chance rises to about 1 in 435 — but most of those wins are the RM72 consolation prize.
Add up every payout and divide by 10,000, and the average return on a Big bet is about 79 sen per RM1, with Small at about 78 sen. In other words, the house edge on 4D is around 21% to 22% — far higher than a typical slot (about 3% to 5%) or the Banker bet in baccarat (about 1%). 4D works as a small bet on a big dream, not as a way to make money.
Box and i-Box: counting permutations
Box and i-Box cover every arrangement of your number’s digits. How many there are depends on repeated digits:

- Box — every permutation is bet at the full amount. RM1 Big on 1123 (12 permutations) costs RM12, and if any permutation is the first prize you win RM3,000.
- i-Box — one amount is split evenly across all permutations. RM1 Big on 1123 costs just RM1, but the first prize is divided by 12: about RM250.
Box does not improve the expected value — it simply buys more numbers at the same price each. i-Box gives the same coverage at a low cost, with smaller prizes.
Playing 4D with clear limits
Set a small weekly budget and stick to it, even when a number "nearly came up". Each draw is independent of the last, so a number that has not appeared for a while is no more likely now. Under the 4D promotion terms, winnings are credited automatically once official results are announced at 8:00 PM.
